Camp Kindness is an educational camp designed for children ages 7-9, 10-12, and 13-15 interested in learning about animal welfare and becoming future pet owners. During our camp sessions, children learn about proper pet care, pet safety, pet interaction and how these topics relate to the Sacramento community. Some examples of camp activities include shelter pet socialization, dog body language lesson, crafting, and educational presentations from different Sacramento SPCA departments and outside organizations.
Found Pets
How to help a pet that you have found
If you have found wildlife, please visit the Wildlife Care Association website for more information, click here.
Have you found a stray animal and aren’t sure what to do? With many shelters in the region only accepting sick or injured animals, here are a few tips on how you can best help a lost animal find its way home.
Sunday Feral and Community Cat Clinic Sponsorship
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) estimates that there are tens of millions of community cats roaming throughout the country. Our region is home to a countless number of these cats. Community cats are cats that are born and raised in the wild or have been abandoned or lost and turned to wild ways to survive. Community cats typically live in a colony which occupies a specific territory where food and shelter can be found.

MONDAY – SATURDAY CLINICS (BY APPOINTMENT ONLY)
In order to ensure the safety of our valued community cat caregivers and the cats in their care, the Monday – Saturday Community Cat Clinic is now accessible through an online sign-up process. This allows individuals who have trapped a cat as early as 10:00 PM the night before surgery to reserve 1 of the 10 daily spots safely (from their home computer or mobile device).
Senior Services
Animals are terrific friends. They energize our walks, enrich our lives, make us laugh and bring us unconditional love and peace of mind. And to top it off, medical studies have shown that pets are literally good for our health!
At the Sacramento SPCA we want to ensure the continued relationship between our local area seniors and their pets so they can maintain their special bond.
Managed Admission
What is Managed Admission and why do I need to make an appointment to surrender my pet?
The Sacramento SPCA believes in helping the greatest number of animals with our available resources, which is why the shelter moved to a managed admission process on September 7, 2016. This change will help regulate the flow of incoming animals, allowing the Sacramento SPCA staff to give more individualized attention to both the animals and the people surrendering them.
Youth Programs
Thank you for your interest in learning more about youth and education programming at the Sacramento SPCA. We are currently “taking a paws” on programming to evaluate the greatest needs in our community. Please check our website after the new year for 2024 programming information.
